Choosing a Suitable Social Cause

Choosing the right social cause is crucial for businesses to ensure alignment with their values, objectives, and target audience. Firstly, businesses should conduct thorough research to identify social issues that resonate with their brand identity and mission. This involves assessing societal needs, trends, and the impact potential of various causes.

Secondly, businesses should consider how the chosen social cause aligns with their business objectives. For example, a tech company passionate about environmental sustainability may choose to support initiatives related to clean energy or waste reduction. This alignment ensures authenticity and reinforces the company’s commitment to making a tangible difference in areas that matter most to them and their stakeholders.

Businesses should engage with stakeholders, including employees, customers, and community members, to gather insights and feedback on potential social causes. This collaborative approach fosters buy-in, ensures relevance, and strengthens partnerships for impactful change.

Integrating Social Causes into Digital Marketing Activities

Once a social cause is selected, businesses must effectively integrate it into their digital marketing activities to amplify its reach and impact. Leveraging social media platforms, businesses can raise awareness, educate their audience, and inspire action through compelling storytelling, impactful visuals, and interactive content.

In addition to social media, businesses can incorporate the social cause into email marketing campaigns or in the signature of their emails, website content, and other digital touchpoints to ensure consistent messaging and visibility across channels. By weaving the cause into the fabric of their brand communication, businesses can authentically engage with their audience and cultivate a loyal community of supporters who share their values and beliefs.

Moreover, businesses should leverage data analytics and metrics to track the performance of their digital marketing efforts related to the social cause. This allows them to measure impact, identify areas for improvement, and iterate on their strategies to maximize effectiveness and engagement.

Creating Own Social Causes with Team’s Knowledge and Skills

In addition to supporting existing social causes, businesses have the opportunity to create their own initiatives that leverage the knowledge and skills of their team to serve others. This approach allows businesses to address specific community needs while empowering employees to make a meaningful difference through their expertise.

To create their own social cause, businesses should start by assessing their team’s strengths, passions, and areas of expertise. This may involve conducting surveys, brainstorming sessions, and workshops to identify potential areas of focus that align with the company’s capabilities and resources.

Once a social cause is identified, businesses should develop a comprehensive strategy that outlines objectives, target beneficiaries, implementation plans, and metrics for success. This involves mobilizing resources, rallying support from stakeholders, and establishing partnerships with relevant organizations to amplify impact and reach.

Businesses should foster a culture of social responsibility and volunteerism within their organization by providing opportunities for employees to contribute their time, skills, and resources to the social cause. This not only strengthens team morale and cohesion but also enhances the company’s reputation as a socially conscious leader in its industry.

Watani Initiative by Socialprise

Here is how I did it for Socialprise. Socialprise is a marketing and communication agency that I founded in 2005 and we are operating internationally. Throughout the years Socialprise has partnered with clients in different industries and acquired an extensive experience in the digital marketing, e-commerce, business growth and trade.

Socialprise has always supported the development of rural areas in Lebanon by recruiting a team that works remotely from different rural areas in Lebanon. In 2018, Socialprise decided to launch its own initiative, Watani, to support Lebanese home businesses and start-ups.
Watani initiative helps businesses develop their products and services, learn managerial, financial, marketing and other skills needed to grow their business via a series of trainings, and offers Lebanese producers and service providers access to Watani Marketplace where their products are listed and promoted FOR FREE, and where these businesses benefited from networking opportunities with worldwide distributors. Watani initiative also supported job creation by launching its “adopt an employee” program where donors, individuals or corporate, can adopt an employee for a period of 6 months or more and this employee will be working with Socialprise team on the Watani initiative, learning different skills while securing an income.
Socialprise not only created its own initiative, but leveraged on the knowledge, expertise and network of the team to support the community, it also collaborated with worldwide organizations to support the initiative with funds.

Watani initiative is promoted by Socialprise in different ways:
– Watani banner in Socialprise email signatures
– On the website of Socialprise
– On the Social media platforms of Socialprise
– In networking events of Socialprise
– In trainings provided by Socialprise and its team
– On the Social media platforms of the team of Socialprise
– In Socialprise newsletter
– On the websites of Socialprise projects and sister companies

Such marketing activities helped many Lebanese businesses expand their businesses to new countries and grow their businesses locally. The initiative also attracted international organizations that want to offer funds and support businesses in Lebanon.

These marketing efforts are ongoing and regular, every post published by Watani social media platforms is reshared by the team. At every opportunity, during trainings that I offer to start-ups, I inform them about Watani and help them get listed.

Social causes should be connected to your values, this will make your marketing efforts a joy instead of a job. I am always excited when a new order is placed, every single time, I am also very excited when I am able to connect a business with an international distributor. On a personal level, it is emotional and I am proud that my knowledge, my experience, my network and my companies are helping other Lebanese businesses.
