Anyone who knows me can tell how much I love mascaras. If I ever be stranded on an island, mascara would definitely be the first item I would pick to have with me.
I mean who needs food when you can have long and beautiful lashes. cue to sarcasm
I have constantly been on a hunt for the perfect mascara that will last the whole day.
My eyelashes are long, thin, curled and light in color. So, they tend to disappear on me. That is why I look for mascaras that will give them length, volume and dark black color.
Throughout the years, I have tried hundreds of mascaras. Some were ok, others were a big NO, and I was lucky enough to find my favorites.
When I say hundreds, I really mean it! Here are some of the brands I tried – YSL, Dior, Louboutin, BURBERRY, TOM FORD, Lancôme, La Roche-Posay, BOBBI BROWN, MAKE UP FOR EVER, MARC JACOBS, Tarte, Too Faced, Kate Von D, benefit, Urban Decay, ESTÉE LAUDER, Max Factor, Mac Cosmetics, bareMinerals, Maybelline, L’Oréal, CLINIQUE, Sephora, eyeko, blinc, flormar, pretty VULGAR, Saint Germain, Planter’s, BELLAOGGI, Guerlain and much more.
Are you still with me?
Of course, I won’t be reviewing them here all. It will take forever. But, I have narrowed them down to my ultimate favorites.
Shopping Tips
First things first! When shopping for a mascara, keep in mind that you need to find a wand that fits your eye shape. For me, I like my lashes to be volumized, lengthened and curled.
Every wand has its purpose. Some lengthen the lashes, others thicken them, the rest have other different functions.
With all the trials and errors, I found that by using both the silicon and the traditional bristles, I would finally get the results I wanted.
When shopping for mascara, the first thing to look for is the wand. Below is a little guide by instyle to help you out.
My Favorite Mascaras
It was impossible for me to find one mascara that will give me full volume, length and will curl my lashes. So I started using two mascaras to get the look I want, one with a silicon brush and the second with a classic thick brush. I usually start with a primer, my favorite – Filorga Optim Eyes Lashes and Brows. Then, use the mascara with the silicon brush to spread my lashes and give them length. I coat my lashes 3 times. I know it’s a lot, but it gets the job perfectly done. Lastly, I use the thick brush mascara to add volume and thicker look.
Here are my favorite mascaras for the perfect outcome.

The best thing about those mascaras is that they last the whole day, more than 12 hours. If you live in a highly humid place, make sure to use a powder under your eyes so you don’t end up with racoon eyes at the end of the day. Trust me, I’ve been there. Not a fan.
